Privacy Policy

Kim Robbins and Nepean Independents Pty LtdĀ  (“we”, “us”, “our”) respect your right to privacy. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the members, volunteers, donors and supporters who interact with this website and our campaign.

We collect personal information to support Kim Robbins’ campaign as an independent candidate for the district of Nepean at the 2026 Victorian state election. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or remove your information.

Although we are a campaign rather than a large organisation, we choose to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

We collect only the information we reasonably need to run the campaign. Depending on how you engage with us, that may include:

  • Your name, email address, postal address and phone number
  • Whether you have asked to receive updates, and your communication preferences
  • Volunteer details, such as your availability and how you would like to help
  • Donation details, including the amount and date, and transaction references for receipting and compliance

We collect this information when you give it to us: when you join our mailing list, volunteer, donate, contact us, or sign up at an event.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Send you campaign updates, newsletters and event invitations
  • Coordinate volunteers and organise events
  • Process donations, issue receipts, and meet our record-keeping obligations
  • Respond to your questions, feedback or complaints
  • Comply with Victorian electoral law, including any donation disclosure required by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC)

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Sharing your information with Independents for Mornington Peninsula (I4MP)

Because our campaign and Independents for Mornington Peninsula (I4MP) may work together, we may share supporter contact details with each other so we can keep you informed and coordinate our efforts across the Peninsula. I4MP and Kim Robbins’ campaign are separate entities.

What we may share with I4MP: your name, email address, postal address and phone number. We will not share your payment or card details with I4MP.

Your choice: when you give us your details, we may share them with I4MP unless you tell us not to. You can opt out at the point you sign up by sending us an email that says “Do not share my details with Independents for Mornington Peninsula” using the details below. Opting out of sharing will not affect your ability to receive updates from our campaign.

Information we receive from I4MP: where I4MP has your consent to do so, they may also share your contact details with us, so that you hear from the campaign you are supporting. I4MP handles that sharing under its own privacy policy, which you can read here: https://www.indiesformp.org.au/privacy_policy

We encourage you to read I4MP’s privacy policy to understand how they handle your information once it is shared with them.

Donations and payments

When you donate, your payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We record the donation amount, date and a transaction reference for receipting, reconciliation and compliance. We do not store your full card details; these are handled by the payment provider on their own secure systems.

Victorian electoral law may require us to report certain donations to the VEC, and the VEC may publish some of that information as required by law.

Where your information is stored

We use CORE Australia as our supporter database and communications platform. Where CORE Australia stores data onshore, your information is held in Australia.

Some service providers we rely on, such as our payment provider or email tools, may store or process limited information overseas. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate safeguards.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. These include:

  • Password protection and access controls on our database and accounts
  • Limiting access to the people who need it to do campaign work
  • Multi-factor authentication where available
  • Removing access when volunteers or staff finish with the campaign

No system is completely secure. If you believe your information may have been compromised, please contact us as soon as possible.

Direct communications and opting out

We may send you newsletters, updates, event invitations and fundraising appeals. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, replying STOP to any SMS, or contacting us directly. We may keep minimal information on a suppression list so that we can honour your opt-out.

Accessing, correcting or removing your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date, or ask us to remove you from our records. To do any of these, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Cookies and website data

Our website may use cookies and basic analytics to help it work properly and to understand how people use it. You can usually turn cookies off in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this website.
